As with the electrical supply, the concept of a consistent “mains delivered” fresh water supply is frequently non-existent in the more rural areas where we operate.
One way to circumvent this is to provide schools with a water tank on a raised tower.
When the mains supply is functional the tank will be filled and the water is stored, ready to be drawn down when needed.
It is a simple cheap solution that can provide water for drinking, cleaning and making the endless cups of tea we all drink when out in the field.
We have provided water tanks at four schools. The average cost is about US$750.
